Short term memory (QKTG)
When to use it?
Q1000 Short-Term Memory is particularly suitable for recruitment purposes. A well-functioning short-term memory is important for various types of work. This includes tasks where it is important to be able to retrieve information from memory quickly and accurately and where one must be able to maintain concentration, such as remembering product names, codes, telephone numbers, routes or locations.
Why use it?
Short-term memory provides insight into active memory, the extent to which a person can retain information actively for a short period. Based on the results, a judgement can be made about how easily a person can remember something (for a short time) and recall it. This is important for problem-solving, decision-making, learning and general functioning. Good short-term memory is particularly relevant for tasks involving monitoring.
How to use it?
The test consists of two sets of 10 questions. To interpret the scores, a comparison has been made with a reference group. The possible scores are: (1) low, (2) moderate, (3) average and (4) high. A score of 1 means that the test taker’s score is equal to that of the 15% lowest scorers in the comparison group. A score of 2 means that the score falls between the 16% and 40% lowest scores, a score of 3 falls between the 41% and 75%, and a score of 4 corresponds to the 25% highest scorers. As a guideline, a score of 1 is considered inadequate and a score of 3 or 4 is considered satisfactory. A score of 2 indicates uncertainty, in which case scores on other tests and/or the candidate’s personal characteristics (e.g. work experience, motivation) may be taken into account in the final assessment.
