Assessio lens creation and governance
This article explains how to create and manage lenses that translate the Performance Framework into role- and organization-specific profiles. Covers three creation paths, framework guardrails, scoring, and governance/versioning.
1. What is an Assessio Lens?
A lens is a competency profile (4–7 competencies) positioned on the Strategic ↔ Operative and Driving ↔ Enabling axes. It always includes at least one competency per domain to keep a holistic view of performance.
2. Three ways to create a lens
A. Use or Boost an Assessio Lens
Start from a standard Assessio lens and optionally boost toward Strategic/Operative and/or Driving/Enabling to reflect your context.
Guardrails (platform-enforced) include:
-
Boosting adjusts one side and proportionally de-emphasizes the opposite side,
-
Max ~30% boost per performance dimension,
-
No competency can drop below 5% weight,
-
Boosting does not swap competencies (it only reweights them)
B. Mirror a High Performer
Generate a new lens using MAP + Matrigma from a high-performing employee as the starting point.
Algorithm highlights top results across all four domains (min. one per domain), caps specialist lenses at max 6 competencies, and assigns weights proportional to the person’s results
C. AI Lens Assistant
Create a fully organization-specific lens with the AI Lens Assistant.
-
Uses your role context and success signals to draft a lens,
-
Follows the same guardrails as Lens Maker (min. one competency per domain; competency weights ≥5%; boosting limits; no rule-breaking combinations),
-
Produces a lens ready for review and governance in your tenant.
(This capability complements Boosting and Mirroring; it adheres to the same framework rules described above.)
Boost vs Mirror vs AI-Lens Assistant:
Boost an Assessio Lens: You like a standard lens but need directional emphasis (strategy/collaboration tilt)
Mirror a high performer: Roles where a top performer exemplifies success
AI Lens Assistant: You need an Org-specific lens aligned to strategy/culture (not person-anchored)
3. Governance & versioning
A. Assessio-published lenses
-
Curated and published by Assessio (standard “Assessio lenses”).
-
Assessio manages scientific validation and updates; changes are communicated in release notes/documentation.
B. Organization-specific lenses (organisation specific tenant)
-
Owned and versioned by the client.
-
Created via Boosting, Mirroring, or the AI Lens Assistant; subject to the same framework guardrails
-
Clients define naming/versioning and internal approval flows.
